No winter rain relief for Bothwell farmers
Updated
Dry conditions have returned to the Central Highlands farming community of Bothwell and farmers are no closer to resolving their long running battle with the state government over water.
Last year almost 600 millimetres of rain fell on Bothwell breaking a three and a half year drought.
Local farmer John Ramsay says this year the dry conditions have returned.
"June and July I think has been 20 millimetres for the two months, so yeah it's been atrocious the last couple of months," he said.
Farmers are calling for the State Government to quickly resolve their long running dispute over the Clyde River management plan.
They also want a water allocation from lakes Crescent and Sorell.
In a statement, the Primary Industries and Water Minister Bryan Green says he is seeking further advice on the complex issue.
